We’re finally launching this blog, to share threat intelligence insights, malware analysis deep-dives, and updates on what we’re building. This first post is a very short introduction, we will start sharing more about the platform as well as some research soon.

What is RationalEdge?

I’ll spare the buzzwords and marketing and go straight to the point: we want to bring Threat Intelligence back to its roots. Intelligence is a field of incomplete information, yet many tools and platforms dish out “yes/no” verdicts without telling you why: black-boxes we all end up taking for granted. We are changing this, we want analysts to understand the “why”, by providing contextualized and transparent results.

We’re building something different: a platform that shows analysts the evidence behind every assessment.

At its core, RationalEdge DataSet (REDS) is a malware database, but one built so that analysts can go much deeper. When you query a sample, you get comprehensive extraction results: file characteristics, behaviors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and more. The kind of information that helps you understand what you’re looking at before you even open a disassembler, or that gives you a head start when you do. But we don’t stop at extraction. We also perform deep code analysis to surface meaningful similarities between samples: not just “these two are 87% similar,” but which functions, behaviors, and code patterns connect them. And we’ll dig deeper into what similarity actually means, because it’s way more than “two samples share X functions, therefore they’re X/total similar.”

The goal is to shorten the time it takes to identify what matters in your workflow, whether you’re triaging at scale or preparing for a deep-dive reverse engineering session, with real insights already in hand.

This is not just a concept. We’re already working with early customers and proving this approach in the real world. Our roadmap is full of features we’re excited to ship, and to write about here.
